Em 2025, assinalaram-se os trinta anos da primeira visita de Edwin E. Gordon (1927-2015) a Portugal. Entre 1995 e 2008, o pedagogo, professor e investigador foi uma presença marcante na Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, em Lisboa, e em outros locais do país. A sua investigação destaca-se pelo contributo ímpar para o estudo das aptidões musicais, da audiação, da teoria de aprendizagem musical, dos padrões tonais e rítmicos e do desenvolvimento musical em bebés e crianças. Foi autor de seis testes de aptidão musical, bem como de inúmeros livros, artigos e monografias de investigação. Esta publicação é uma reedição do artigo de Helena Rodrigues, publicado após a sua primeira visita a Portugal em novembro de 1995, que resume as informações partilhadas nesses seminários.
